Brutalism in Peterlee

Steven and I were looking for somewhere a bit different to photograph the other day, and a piece of architecture I remembered seeing in an exhibition at the Bessie Surtees house recently popped into my head. After a bit of research and quite a few wrong turns we found the Apollo Pavilion in a housing estate ironically named 'Sunny Blunts' (definitely didn't seem like a place I'd want to smoke any sunny blunts).

It's a concrete structure built over a man made lake which has dodged demolition and recently been restored. I would have liked to actually get inside but there was quite a large gang of dodgy looking people hanging around and I thought it best not to risk my life or my camera (only partially joking).
