Working With Wool
I’ve always wanted to be able to make things with my hands, and after quitting my job and moving into a van I realised I had enough time on my hands to be able to learn a new skill. I bought a tiny loom, and it all escalated from there. I began small, making bookmarks with yarn and bits of wool plucked from fences, dabbled in some tapestry weaving and then kept going larger until I was squeezing an 80cm rigid heddle loom into a motorhome so I could make throw blankets.
I’ve been lucky enough to be featured in several books and have written an article, ‘The Joy of Plain Weave’ for the Ashford magazine ‘The Wheel’. My pieces are inspired by simplistic, but rustic designs prioritising subtle colours and textures.
